Many insurance companies offer discounts to employers who perform pre-employment and ongoing testing, and in many cases, the savings is worth the cost of testing. The discounts apply regardless of the nature of the work because illegal drug use has costs beyond an unsafe workplace; for example increased health care costs and possible decreased productivity.

As to the false positives related to your medication, GCMS based testing is capable of distinguishing metabolites from illicit and prescription drugs. Unfortunately, the cost is higher and the results are somewhat delayed, making the less accurate "dip stick" type tests much more popular.

Jeremy,
October 2009 seems like a long time ago and here it is March 2010. I was permanently laid off back in January 2009 with no hope in sight of ever getting back into IT. I thought being certified meant something. I wonder if your back to work yet. I find most employers seeking seniors this specialist that and the definition of an Administrator goes far beyond anything I've experienced in my 15 years in the industry. If I would of learned every operating system, every type of programming, every type of database software, switches, routers, firewalls, security, Sarbanes Okley, Hippa, PDA's, Blackberries, etc, etc, etc, and taken the time to get a Bachelor's or even a Masters, well maybe I could of gotten that job with Smith Micro Technologies Inc. They were looking for an IT On-Site Support Technician at $12 an hour! I wish I could list the requirements here.
Job ID:6209802.
When I started my carreer in IT, it was said a "Computer Technician is the most glamorous career to get into" but look at us now.
