So there’s been a lot of websites out there surrounding one person’s attempt to lose weight. In all accounts, it seems to work pretty well – making yourself accountable to the public. So I’ll do the same.

I begin my beloved 3rd shift on January 11th. There’s a YMCA next door. I’m going to sign up, and swim an hour or so after work every day – at least at first.

With me, it takes 30 days to make or break an addiction, so if I can keep this up for 30 days straight I should have to problem sticking with it all the way.

So I’ll do the usual pic-a-day and current weight info. As well as time lapse videos – thinking every month, quarterly and yearly right now.

Unemployed in Minnesota: The story thus far

So in June I was laid off from my consulting firm. They couldn’t find me any clients, and were tired of paying me to sit at home and watch TV.
Initially I thought it’d be fairly easy to find a new job – I have over 10 years experience in the Information Technology field, I’m a Microsoft MVP, and I’m generally a decent human being.

Well alas, it hasn’t happened yet.

So I decided the other day to start writing about it all.

I apply to a lot of jobs, talk to a lot of people. There’s so much promising stuff going on. But it hasn’t happened yet.

So in my self-imposed house arrest I do what I can to keep my mind off of things; I tinker. I make things. I break things. I have thoughts.

I figured I might as well put them out there into the world – yet another thing to keep my mind off the boredom.
And I want to make revenue from ads too. That would be sweet – but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Oh, and if anyone is looking for an awesome Windows System Administrator, please feel free to give me a call!

Acai Berry Pill Scam thing?

Has this happened to anyone else? Twice in the last 2 weeks I received an IM from one friend, and one only that were identical.

The text says (To help the bots out there find this so I can get more info):

My Friend’s Name: I got so many messages about those acai berry pills that I decided to order them and guess what? I lost 23 pounds so far and its only been two weeks. I am living proof that they work and best part was, they only cost me five dollars to try over at http://kitepeek.com

If you try to go to the site, http://kitepeek.com, it doesn’t resolve.

If you pull up some information about the site, you can see that it was registered on April 29th by the following entity, which is the same for all contacts:

It uses the nameservers of NS1. and NS2.AIAOVTGO.COM, which only hosts the resolution for 39 other servers. And 163.com appears to be some kind of portal site, so I’m going on the assumption that that email address is a free one.

So nothing is adding up, and it seems pretty suspicious to me.
